Can Gio is not familiar with skyscrapers or loud fan walls. What visitors hear along the route are mangrove leaves, waves, and the breathing of thousands of runners. That is the scene the HDBank Green Marathon 2026 aims to capture when it returns to this UNESCO-listed mangrove forest in September 2026. Now in its fifth season, the event offers distances from 5 km to 42 km, plus family and children’s groups. It combines offline road racing with an online digital challenge, making the race a multi-month training program rather than a single-day competition. The route, certified by AIMS, passes through terrain of soft sand, exposed roots, and high humidity. This creates a tactical puzzle for recreational runners who are mostly used to flat pavement. The field is community-focused, with no national elite stars and no qualifying pressure. The absence of top competition lowers the event’s sportive intensity but raises its accessibility. HDBank, a bank with more than 36 years of sports sponsorship, has planted more than 2,000 trees through previous editions and expanded beach clean-ups. The race is organized with Ho Chi Minh City Athletics Federation, integrating digital banking tools to encourage regular exercise. When the starting gun fires in September 2026, Can Gio will not promise a world-record attempt. It will offer something quieter: families running together, friends helping each other through a tough mangrove trail, and first-time marathoners discovering their own limits.
